Plantation shutter cost calculator - Australia

Shutters are priced per square metre and per panel - never honestly per window. PVC runs $300-$430 per m² supplied and installed, timber $410-$640, aluminium $520-$750. Six standard windows in PVC works out to $2,580-$3,700 - here is the calculator that shows the maths.

Price your shutters

Tell us the openings and the material. The calculator converts windows to square metres (a standard window is about 1.44 m² of shutter) and prices the panels - the way installers actually quote.

Priced per square metre - the only honest way to price shutters - from cross-checked Australian rates. Then send your details for an exact quote. No obligation.

Priced per square metre and per panel - not per window. The same window can cost $300 or $1,500 depending on how many panels it needs, so compare quotes per m2.

What moves the price

Panel count, not windows

The #1 driver. A wide window needing four panels costs multiples of a narrow one needing a single panel - which is why per-window quotes are meaningless.

Material tier

Each step - PVC to timber to aluminium - lifts the per-m² rate by roughly a third. Wide openings over 2 m can force the dearer tiers: PVC panels sag.

Project size

Per-m² rates fall with volume - one retailer's card drops PVC from $299/m² on small jobs to $239/m² whole-home. A full house is cheaper per metre than two windows.

Comparing quotes? Get the material named in writing (PVC vs timber-look products are not the same thing) and compare per square metre - it is the only like-for-like measure. Expect 6-10 weeks from measure to install; shutters are custom-made.
