The price ranges behind this calculator

Supply + install rendering rates and bricklaying labour rates, cross-checked across Australian published sources.

Rendering by type

$30-$90 per m2

Cement render $30-$65/m2, acrylic $50-$85/m2. Bagged finish $35-$50/m2 and polymer $70-$90/m2 are indicative only - those two rest on a single published source. A whole house typically runs $15,000-$30,000.

Bricklaying labour

$55-$120 per m2

Or $1,000-$2,200 per 1,000 bricks laid. Brick veneer labour is $50-$100/m2, repointing $40-$150/m2, and hourly rates run $45-$120/hr.

Brick supply

$600-$850 per 1,000 commons

Face and modular bricks run $650-$1,200 per 1,000 and render bricks about $1,800. Supply + lay for standard commons totals $2,300-$2,400 per 1,000.

Prep can add 25-40%

Surface condition matters

Published worked examples lift a small wall's price by roughly 40-100% once preparation and access are included. The calculator models heavy prep at +30%.

What moves the price most

1. Render type

Each step up the ladder - cement to acrylic to polymer - adds roughly $15-$25/m2. It is the single biggest choice on a rendering quote.

2. Surface prep

Rough, raked or painted brick needs extra coats and preparation. Ground-level published rates also assume easy access - second-storey work needs scaffolding and prices above band.

3. Brick type & bond

Face bricks, feature bonds, arches and curved work price above standard stretcher-bond commons - feature walls run $140-$450/m2 installed against $55-$120 standard.

All figures are guides, not quotes - your contractor confirms a fixed price after seeing the job. Small areas carry renderer minimum charges, so tiny walls cost more per m2 than whole houses.
